Reading Bill of Rights and Reading Counts

At this point in the year, I have held 2 literacy committee meetings and met twice with principal, curriculum specialist, reading specialist.

First literacy meeting was a flop. Two members present besides me, Lynn Barber and Leann Lassiter.
Discussed: Vocabulary Fashion Show, Pumpkins, and Planetarium idea

Second one was mildly better. Attended: Lynn Barber, Leann Lassiter, Miranda Miller, Laura Luquet, Martha Brame, Rodney Graham and Susan Owens.We discussed:

• First vocabulary fashion show  (pre-K to 2nd)  (3rd-5th)  Shorten the first one for next year!
• Reading Bill of Rights for Students
• "Reading Celebration" Mobile Planetarium (Stars)
• Summer Reading (Beach Theme)
• Celebrity Read-in Day. Read Across America Day with Dr. Seuss
• Grade Level awards??
• Dr. Seuss Sleep-in Mar. 1st
